RECOMMENDED LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
The Save Kelseyville Committee offered the KVUSD's School Board an alternative version of the resolution initially presented on March 19, 2024. This recommended resolution and a Land Acknowledgement statement was sent to KVUSD Superintendent, Dr. Nicki Thomas, on May 2, 2024. Dr. Thomas agreed to include the alternative resolution and Land Acknowledgement statement in the Board packet for the Tuesday, May 7, 2024 Special Board Meeting. It was included in the packet, which was electronically published on May 7, 2024, at 9 am. There was, unfortunately, no reference during the Special Board Meeting of the two recommended alternate proposals. Please find them below for your review.

Recommended Land Acknowledgement Statement for the Board’s Consideration
The Kelseyville Unified School District recognizes that Lake County is situated on the ancestral land of the Pomo people and their neighboring communities. For countless generations, the Pomo and neighboring tribes have called this area home. We are grateful for this rich heritage and commit to respecting this land while building stronger relationships with Indigenous groups. We are dedicated to fostering a spirit of collaboration and friendship among all community members, past and present.
